Laird Bateham, President and Founder
Laird is the innovator behind the Yourbrook technology and has been instrumental in the engineering, design and construction of the prototype. He brings an in-depth knowledge of hydro power generation as well as a lifetime of project management skills and technical experience.
Dan Abbott, Director of Technical Design
Dan has been the key technician involved with the design and construction of the Yourbrook technology. He brings to the firm a wealth of knowledge that comes with being a millwright, mechanic and welder. Dan is a part owner of Haida Gwaii Forest Products and has been directly involved in its operations and management since 1981.
Jon Yalte, Director of Field Operations
Jon has been working with Yourbrook since 2018. He has supported with testing, maintaining, and fabricating the tidal device and on site with our organizational partners. He has a diverse background in forestry, fisheries, construction, and a lifetime working on the land on Haida Gwaii.
Marina Winterbottom, Director of Environment
Marina is a professional marine biologist and co-founder of Bluedot Environmental. She is responsible for designing studies to better understand the ecosystems we operate in and ensure environmental impacts are minimized to the extent possible. Marina has extensive experience working on complex and high profile environmental assessment projects in British Columbia and the Canadian Arctic.
Clyde Greenough, Chief Operating Officer
Clyde is responsible for business operations and external relations at Yourbrook. He has run a successful business in aggregate, concrete and construction for the last 42 years. He also serves on the boards of the Haida Gwaii Community Foundation and the Gwaii Trust Society.
Alden Bateham, Director of Construction
Alden Bateham has decades of project management experience ranging from large highway and bridge construction projects to overseeing large set-building crews in the movie industry. Alden has owned and operated a successful business since 1988 in forestry, road building and excavating.
Brittany Goff, Director of Finance & Administration
Brittany has been working with Yourbrook since 2018. She is responsible financial tasks, grant applications, and administration. With a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Toronto, she brings and understanding of sustainability and the importance of renewable energy to Yourbrook.
Ben Wheeler, Director of Permitting
Ben is a professional marine biologist and co-founder of Bluedot Environmental. At Yourbrook, he is responsible for permitting strategy and regulator engagement. Ben has over 25 years of experience as a senior leader at several small and large environmental consulting firms and has been involved in many of Canada's largest marine projects on all three coastlines.
